That is a great question! With our collective history working at multiple university hospitals and not-for-profit community health organizations throughout the country and a local accountable care organization (ACO) and managed care organization (MCO), we have learned that one thing is clear: each and every person deserves timely, high quality medical care with dignity and respect.  Without the necessary time to achieve this type of care, this can lead to worsening medical problems and higher health costs that are seen today.  That is why we have painstakingly created this practice as a place where our patients can not only be seen and heard, but also are a valued leader in their own care.  All new primary care visits are guaranteed sufficient time to go over their medical history, answer questions they have, and how to keep the conversation going about their health.  

At Guiding Butterfly Integrative Internal Medicine and Wellness, you will have access to a triple-board certified physician who attentively listens, asks detail-oriented questions, provide honest and transparent answers to your questions, and will have enough time to understand the status of your health and ways to achieve a higher quality of life through education and additional resources.  It should also be pointed out that all services listed on this site are directly performed by Dr. al Rashida who is a triple-board certified physician in both internal medicine, integrative medicine, and medical support clinical hypnotherapy.

For your first primary care visit or initial general internal medicine consultation, we prefer to see you in person so we can provide the best and safest care possible. An in-person visit allows us to do a complete evaluation, including a physical exam, review your medical history in detail, and address any concerns right away. These steps help us make accurate diagnoses and create the right care plan for you from the start.

Once we know you better, many follow-up visits can often be done by video when clinically appropriate. Our goal is to make care both more accessible and higher-quality.

Thank you for your service. Yes! You can see Dr. al Rashida as well.  Not only can having access to a primary care physician be useful but many of the integrative medicine services provided could be of great use as well.  For those who suffer from medical conditions such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorder, the integrative health services listed may be that missing ingredient in your life.

We welcome patients from throughout New Mexico. Our office is conveniently located in Northeast Albuquerque near I-40 and Tramway, making us easily accessible for patients from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Placitas, Los Lunas, Belen, Edgewood, Moriarty, Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, Tijeras, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and surrounding communities.

Many established patients also use telehealth visits when medically appropriate.

At our clinic, we value people over paperwork. In order to foster the patient-physician relationship, provide evidence-based integrative medicine services, and deliver the highest value-based care possible to all our patients equally, our practice does not bill health insurances. This includes Medicare and Medicaid as well.  This approach allows for more time and attention to what matters most, which is our patients.  A superbill, which is a itemized list of services Dr. al Rashida rendered at a given visit, can be created for someone wishing to submit this to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.  Reimbursement is only acceptable under commercial insurances only.  Please call your insurance company for questions on how they would process a superbill from an out of network physician.  

Please be advised that the cost for membership does not replace your health insurance plan.  Your health insurance may still be used to cover other insurance-approved services such as medications, labs, imaging, and any referrals to other specialists. 

If you have a Health Saving Account (HSA) or a Flexible Savings Account (FSA) card, this may be used to help with payments outside of a credit or debit card.  Please contact your card administrator beforehand to confirm the card can be used for our services.

Thank you for your question.  We try to keep things easy and predictable.  Memberships may be set up with automatic monthly payments, which helps keep care accessible, affordable, and avoid surprise bills. Outside of the auto-pay set-up, please find below accepted payment options:

• Pay by credit or debit card

• HSA/FSA cards

Payments are made before services are rendered.  Please call your HSA/FSA card administrator for confirmation of funds being used for services at our practice.  Let's talk more on your free discovery chat!

No worries! Just send a message through your patient portal with your desire to cancel your membership and we will process your cancellation.  You may end your membership at any time by giving us a 30 day written notice without penalty.  You will still have access to your patient portal despite cancelling your membership.  Please reach back out through your patient portal or our practice's number if you wish to re-apply for membership. 

If you wish to make membership payment installments at a frequency of every 3 months, 6 months, or a once a year payment for a year's membership, we can set that up for you upon request.  Please let us know if this is your preference and we would be happy to assist with this. 

Yes! It is already hard enough to find a primary care physician, particularly in New Mexico.  Let alone one who provides so many integrative medicine benefits for their patients like Dr. al Rashida does.  A discount may be applied to companies who wish to offer our services to their employees.  Please be advised that these payments are not a substitute for health insurance, if health insurance is available.  Please book your free employer partnership chat.

Package deals are available if the desire is to purchase either multiple sessions and/or wishing to use more than one type of service.  Please reach out to us via your free discovery chat, Contact Us page, or our practice phone to discuss more about your wish. 

If you are subscribed to a membership, you will have direct access to Dr. al Rashida.  If a telehealth or in-person visit needs to be set up based on the phone call, this can be scheduled for Caterpillar Stage and Butterfly Stage members without additional charges.  However charges in creating a new telehealth or in-person visit will apply to Egg Stage membership.  

If your message or question is not urgent and can be addressed during business hours, we advise leaving a message on your patient portal as those are checked on a regular basis.  If you are having a health emergency, we advise you to please call 911.

If a Butterfly Stage membership was purchased, one house call per year is covered as part of the benefits package.  Please see the pricing page for more details on the benefits of each membership.  For those who are in the Egg and Caterpillar Stages and wish to have a house call, separate charges will apply per house call whether you live in or around Albuquerque.  Additional requests for house calls beyond the Butterfly Stage membership benefit will result in an additional charge based on your location in New Mexico.  Please schedule your free discovery chat if you have any further questions about this. 

In addition to a New Mexico medical license, Dr. al Rashida also has medical licenses in the states of Arizona and Texas.  

She prefers to see primary care patients in person for new patient and annual visits thus at this time she only sees patients in New Mexico for primary care needs.  All consultations and integrative assessment & therapeutic services listed are available in New Mexico as well. 

At this time Dr. al Rashida sees patients who live outside of New Mexico for integrative medicine tele-health visits and tele-hypnosis sessions.

Great question. We also do follow a what is called "pracademic" model in which even though we are a private practice, we do allow health sciences students (and residents) from schools such as the University of New Mexico, schools training medical assistants, and Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine to rotate with us with the hopes they will be inspired to practice in the state of New Mexico.  If you do not wish to have a student or resident observe or see you during your visit, please let us know during either your free discovery chat or send a message through the patient portal. 

No we don't sell supplements.  However we are connected with a company called Fullscript which if patients wish to order through their website would be able to receive a discount due to being a patient of Dr. al Rashida.

At this time, we also don't provide peptide injections or infusions given research not strong enough to support their use.  On an individual basis though, Dr. al Rashida may make recommendations on certain supplements given someone's nutrition and lifestyle choices.  

Dr. al Rashida loves to collaborate with any traditional healer or other health specialists to help patients live the best life they deserve.  Given her training and skills in integrative medicine, if a patient wishes to utilize treatments from their spiritual/medicine healer then she would be more than willing to collaborate and at the same time, learn more about the practice being used to help the patient receive the best health outcome.
